Lefki Karpodini has been described as a pianist who forms “another link in the long chain of our country’s important female pianists, an “intelligent soloist at the peak of her powers, possessing excellent technique, high musical perception, and musicality,” whose interpretations offer the audience “naked emotion… pure, direct, intense” projecting the musical pieces “like works of sculpture.”.
She is widely regarded as one of the most active and thoughtful Greek pianists of her generation, established through her multifaceted presence as a soloist, chamber musician, and educator. She has given concerts in Greece and abroad, including Europe, Canada, Israel, Russia, the USA, and Barbados. She has performed at venues such as London’s Wigmore Hall, Purcell Room, St. Martin-in-the-fields, St. John’s Smith Square, and Bolivar Hall, as well as the Meistersaal in Berlin, the ZKM in Karlsruhe, the Rolston Hall in Canada, the Athens Megaron Concert Hall, the Theocharakis Foundation, and the Parnassos Cultural Center. Her festival appearances include the Schleswig Holstein Music Festival, Mecklenburg Vorpommern (Rising Stars Series), Banff Festival, Dresdner Tagen der zeitgenössischen Musik, Cully Classique, Brighton Festival, Cheltenham Music Festival, Musique Printanière à Beaucaire (where she served as Pianist in Residence), Paxos Festival (Pianist in Residence), Festival of the Aegean, Symi Festival, Heraklion Piano Festival, Kalamata International Music Days, and the Aegina International Music Festival. She has recorded for broadcasting networks and organizations, including BBC Radio 3, the Philharmonia Orchestra, the Deutscher Musikrat (in collaboration with Ensemble Modern), and the Greek National Radio (ERT).
As a soloist and chamber musician, she has collaborated with numerous orchestras and ensembles, including Ensemble Modern, the Pan-European Orchestra, the Guildhall Symphony Orchestra, the Athens Symphony Orchestra, and the Stenhammar Quartet. She has also performed alongside international calibre singers and instrumentalists. While living in Berlin, she was a member of the Fibonacci and Trioskop piano trios, and she later formed a piano duo with Michael Brownlee Walker. Her artistic appearances have been warmly received by music critics and audience.
Born in Greece, Karpodini began playing the piano at an early age. She graduated with distinction from the Athens Conservatoire and continued her studies at London’s Guildhall School of Music and Drama, where she obtained her BMus, PGDip, PACC, and MMus. A further scholarship from the Belgais Centre in Portugal enabled her to study with the pianist Maria João Pires, and she later followed a course in contemporary music at the International Ensemble Modern Academy (IEMA) in Frankfurt.
She has been awarded scholarships by the State Scholarships Foundation (I.K.Y.) and various summer music academies, including Mozarteum in Salzburg, , Tel Hai in Israel and others.. In the UK, she was honored with the Sir Henry Richardson Award (MBF), and she has also received first prize at the “Filon” Music Competition in Greece and special distinction among all categories of the competition as well as first prize at the Schubert Competition (GSMD) in London.
A passionate advocate of contemporary music, her artistic activity includes collaborations with composers, world premieres, and recordings of 21st-century repertoire. She has performed for the contemporary music series of the Park Lane Group at London’s Purcell Room. Her recent world premieres include Christos Samaras’ Flute and Piano Sonata and Nestor Taylor’s “Tenebrae”. Her discography features the 2024 CD release of Fanis Antonopoulos’ 3rd Violin and Piano Sonata by Irida Music.
Aside from her career as a concert pianist, Lefki Karpodini is a devoted piano professor. She has taught in various institutions and contexts across the UK, Germany, and Greece, and has delivered masterclasses in Greece, the UK, and France. She currently holds teaching positions at the Music School of Moraitis School and the Athenaeum Conservatoire. In 2026, she returns as a guest professor at the summer piano course Music at Chateau d’Aix in France.
In recent years, her creative expression has expanded into the visual arts. Her love for sketching and painting has led to a series of works and her first solo painting exhibition, “Naked Moment”, which was presented in May 2025 at the young artists festival at “To Treno sto Rouf”. Θεωρείται ευρέως ως μία από τις πιο δραστήριες και σκεπτόμενες Ελληνίδες πιανίστριες της γενιάς της, κάτι που έχει εδραιωθεί μέσα από την μακροχρόνια παρουσία της ως σολίστ, μουσικός δωματίου και παιδαγωγός. Έχει δώσει συναυλίες στην Ελλάδα και το εξωτερικό, συμπεριλαμβανομένης της Ευρώπης, του Καναδά, του Ισραήλ, της Ρωσίας, των ΗΠΑ και των Μπαρμπέιντος. Γεννημένη στην Ελλάδα, η Λευκή Καρποδίνη άρχισε να παίζει πιάνο σε ηλικία 5 ετών. Αριστούχος διπλωματούχος του Ωδείου Αθηνών σε ηλικία 19 ετών συνέχισε τις σπουδές της στην περίφημη σχολή Guildhall School of Music and Drama του Λονδίνου, όπου απέκτησε τους τίτλους BMus, PGDip και MMus με υποτροφία του ΙΚΥ. Μια επιπλέον υποτροφία από το Belgais ψεντρε στην Πορτογαλία της επέτρεψε να σπουδάσει δίπλα στη διάσημη πιανίστα Maria João Pires, ενώ αργότερα παρακολούθησε ένα μεταπτυχιακό πρόγραμμα σπουδών πάνω στην ερμηνεία σύγχρονης μουσικής ως υπότροφος της ΙΕΜΑ (International Ensemble Modern Academy) στη Φρανκφούρτη.
Κατά την διάρκεια των σπουδών της συμμετείχε σε πολλά σεμινάρια πιάνου και έλαβε υποτροφίες απο σημαντικές καλοκαιρινές ακαδημίες όπως Mozarteum, Tel Hai, το Banff και άλλες. Εχει βραβευτεί στην Αγγλία με τον τίτλο Sir Henry Richardson Award (MBF) και εχει λάβει Χρυσό Μετάλλιο στον Μουσικό Διαγωνισμό «Φίλων» στην Ελλάδα και πρώτο βραβείο στον Διαγωνισμό Schubert (GSMD) στο Λονδίνο.
Ως ένθερμη υποστηρίκτρια της σύγχρονης μουσικής, η καλλιτεχνική της δραστηριότητα περιλαμβάνει συνεργασίες με συνθέτες, παγκόσμιες πρεμιέρες και ηχογραφήσεις ρεπερτορίου του 21ου αιώνα. Έχει εμφανιστεί στην περίφημη σειρά σύγχρονης μουσικής του Park Lane Group στο Purcell Room του Λονδίνου. Στις πρόσφατες παγκόσμιες πρεμιέρες της περιλαμβάνονται η Σονάτα για Φλάουτο και Πιάνο του Χρήστου Σαμαρά και το έργο «Tenebrae» του Νέστορα Ταίηλορ. Η δισκογραφία της περιλαμβάνει την κυκλοφορία του CD της 3ης Σονάτας για Βιολί και Πιάνο του Φάνη Αντωνόπουλου το 2024 από την Irida Music.
Παράλληλα με την καριέρα της ως σολίστ, η Λεύκη Καρποδίνη είναι μια αφοσιωμένη καθηγήτρια πιάνου. Έχει διδάξει σε διάφορα ιδρύματα και πλαίσια στο Ηνωμένο Βασίλειο, τη Γερμανία και την Ελλάδα, και έχει παραδώσει σεμινάρια (masterclasses) στην Ελλάδα, το Ηνωμένο Βασίλειο και τη Γαλλία. Αυτή τη στιγμή κατέχει διδακτικές θέσεις στη Μουσική Σχολή της Σχολής Μωραΐτη και στο Αθήναιον Ωδείο. Το 2026 επιστρέφει ως προσκεκλημένη καθηγήτρια στο θερινό σεμινάριο πιάνου Music at Chateau d’Aix στη Γαλλία.
Τα τελευταία χρόνια, η δημιουργική της έκφραση έχει επεκταθεί και στις εικαστικές τέχνες. Η αγάπη της για το σχέδιο και τη ζωγραφική οδήγησε σε μια σειρά έργων και στην πρώτη της ατομική έκθεση ζωγραφικής, με τίτλο «ΓΥΜΝΗ ΣΤΙΓΜΗ», η οποία παρουσιάστηκε τον Μάιο του 2025 στο φεστιβάλ νέων καλλιτεχνών στο «Το Τρένο στο Ρουφ».
